Publication management at the University of Göttingen

GRO.publications has the optimal infrastructure for this and offers a central collection of publication data and full texts. Via a so-called snippet, the publication data stored and assigned to the institute or person can be conveniently integrated on the respective web pages. It is updated automatically if a new data record is added to GRO.publications. The data pool is regularly enriched by automatic data imports from Web of Science and PubMed. First publications can also be published free of charge and provided with a DOI.

Secondary publication free of charge

Most publishers grant authors a secondary publication right and allow the publication to be made available via institutional document servers. GRO.publications is the institutional repository for researchers at the University of Göttingen (including University Medicine) to make e.g. a journal article available - within the framework of the secondary publication right - free of charge and according to the specifications of the publishers. In particular, after a specified embargo period, publishers allow authors to make the author version available (so-called postprint ...). This provision increases the visibility, especially for journals that could not be licensed by the University of Göttingen. Further details can be found in the help section Publishing, deposited at GRO.publications.

Publish series

First publications of individual publications or series of publications can also be realized via GRO.publications. They appear under a Creative Commons license and each receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), as you can see in this example. We advise on the publication concept, the peer review strategy and the appearance. Contact our team by email.

Publish theses

eDiss is the document server for dissertations and theses of the University of Göttingen. Here you can easily and unproblematically make your thesis available free of charge. Your thesis will be listed in recognized catalogs, will receive a DOI and will gain optimal visibility. The eDiss team (email) is also available for your questions regarding publication.

Göttingen Repositories

For the disciplines Earth Sciences and Anglo-America a disciplinary repository is offered within the framework of the subject information services maintained by Göttingen. For more information on GEO-LEOe-docs and The Stacks, please visit the Repositories website. The Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR) provides a list of institutional, subject-specific and thematic repositories and harvesters. It therefore provides a starting point for researching suitable repositories for free publication.

Book publishing

The Göttingen University Press is an Open Access publisher and offers, especially for books, the full service of a publishing company with custom-fit and cost-effective options for the implementation of your publication project. This includes parallel publication in Open Access and as a printed book. Theses can also be published by Universitätsverlag Göttingen, provided that their content quality meets the publisher's criteria. Offers for open access journals or other publication formats such as digital editions are currently being developed.

Open Access Publication Funds

Under certain conditions, the publication funds of the University of Göttingen can be used to finance the publication costs for publishing in OA journals either in full or on a shared basis. In addition, there are now numerous publishing agreements and so-called Publish & Read contracts that enable researchers to publish Open Access in subscription-based journals free of charge.

Research Data Management at the University of Göttingen

The Göttingen eResearch Alliance (eRA) offers an institutional research data repository Göttingen Research Online Data Repository (GRO.data) and other various repositories for the Göttingen Campus. The portal Registry of Research Data Repository (re3data) lists further research data repositories.
