How the city of Göttingen came to light. And what the university library has to do with it.

What is less well known is that it was only 125 years ago that there was a decisive turning point in the history of electrification in Göttingen. This article in the Göttingen Campus Blog (in German) is about the year 1900, when the city was finally supplied with electric light thanks to the university.

You can read a detailed description in our magazine "Spektrum", issue 2/99, pages 32f, which the SUB provides digitally: http://webdoc.sub.gwdg.de/edoc/a/spektrum/99_2/32-33.pdf (in German).
