Einrichtung von Service- und Kompetenzzentren fuer die Digitalisierung von Bibliotheksbestaenden in Deutschland (Establishment of centers for service and competence for the digitization of library holdings in Germany)

In order to maximize the efficient use of resources and widely usable work results, the DFG decided to sponsor the development of so-called centers for service and competence (or „service and competence centers“) at two German libraries. These first two centers were to support the joint development for German libraries of the technological concept and realization of a distributed digital library taking into account international experience.The Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) and Bavarian State Library (BSB Munich) were chosen as the locations for the two centers.
