Temporary full access to legal academic titles in the Nomos eLibrary

Directly after the end of the free interdisciplinary full access to all titles of the Nomos eLibrary on 30 April 2020, a further phase of full access to the legal academic titles will follow on 1 May 2020. This means that you can continue to access the jurisprudential portfolio of the Nomos eLibrary from the campus network and from home as usual until 31 July 2020. After this period, the most frequently used titles will be purchased for permanent availability.

You will soon be able to research the titles via the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) or already now directly on the publishing platform. Please use the access to the Nomos eLibrary via the Database Information System (DBIS).

De Gruyter eBook Package Law 2020

We are pleased to be able to provide you with the current De Gruyter eBook Package Law with a total of 134 titles. The package is financed in equal parts by the Faculty of Law and the Göttingen State and University Library.

You will soon be able to search for the relevant titles via the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) or already now directly on the publishing platform. Please use the access via the Database Information System (DBIS).

Full access to Wolters Kluwer Online

Up to and including 31 December 2020, the entire stock of the full text database Wolters Kluwer Online is accessible for use in the campus network and from home. The database contains over 1,100 legal titles from the publishers Wolters Kluwer Deutschland, Luchterhand, Carl Heymanns, Carl Link Kommunalverlag and Werner Verlag.

Please note that the individual titles cannot always be verified in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). Therefore please use the access to Wolters Kluwer Online via the Database Information System (DBIS).

UPDATE: beck-online

Home access for professors and other staff

From outside the campus network the use of the full text database beck-online is currently only possible via VPN access and personal user account.

Instructions for setting up the VPN connection can be found on the website of the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung Göttingen (GWDG).

Important: For registration at beck-online please use your *@*.uni-goettingen.de or your *@gwdg.de e-mail address.

Home access for students

Due to the current situation students can access beck-online.DIE DATENBANK via VPN for a limited period of time in order to create a necessary personal account.

Instructions for setting up the VPN connection can be found on the website of the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung Göttingen (GWDG).

Important: Please use your *@stud.uni-goettingen.de email address exclusively for registration in beck-online.

beck-online home access for students

Home access to the legal full text database beck-online is also possible for students and is carried out via a separate authentication procedure.

For this purpose, a personal beck-online account and a special authentication app ("Authenticator") for the smartphone are required. Free registration is possible at beck-online. For the personal account only your university address can be used as email address (...@*.uni-goettingen.de).

Important: The first-time creation of a personal account must take place within the campus network of the University of Göttingen, otherwise a "private" account will be created without access to licensed content.

After completing the registration process, you will receive an email containing an activation link, which you can use to confirm the validity of your email address and to set a personal password.

As soon as the personal beck-online account has been set up, activate the option "2-factor authentication" in your user profile, unless you have already done so during registration. You will then be offered the possibility to download and install the authentication app.

Important: The initial registration for 2-factor authentication must be done on your smartphone in the WLAN Eduroam in the campus network of the University of Göttingen.

Home access can be used on three devices, including a PC. The temporary security code is generated regularly via the smartphone app ("Authenticator")

Law textbooks in the beck-eLibrary

In addition to the already accessible law textbooks of the publishing house Franz Vahlen, a large number of the textbooks of the publishing house C.H.BECK are now also licensed via the database beck-eLibrary. This offer replaces the beck-eLibrary which is accessible until 30 November 2019.

In addition to a large number of textbooks and study commentaries, you can expect a modern design and the possibility to download the electronic version of the titles chapter by chapter as a PDF file for further use.

As usual, the titles can be retrieved via the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK) or directly via access to the beck-eLibrary via the Database Information System (DBIS).

Online version of the Leipziger Kommentar zum Strafgesetzbuch

With the Leipziger Kommentar, one of the most traditional commentaries on the German Penal Code is now available in electronic form. Alongside the Münchener Kommentar zum Strafgesetzbuch and the Systematischen Kommentar, the Leipziger Kommentar is the most comprehensive work on substantive criminal law.

This module, which was acquired in cooperation with the Faculty of Law, is now available campus-wide in the network of the Göttingen University. Please also note the search tips that can be accessed via the online module.
