Zu den Quellen – Einführungen in die Arbeit mit historischen Beständen der SUB Göttingen: Magnified Manuscripts: Digital Microscopy at SUB Göttingen
This class, taught in English, will introduce students to the use of digital microscopy for the study of manuscripts and cultural heritage documents. Learners will get hands-on with objects from the SUB's collection and have the chance to see them in a new way.
Participants will learn to:
- Identify leather and parchment from different animals and preparation methods
- Discern the "hair side" from the "flesh side" of manuscripts
- Study features of ink and pigment at high levels of magnification
- Use a digital microscope to obtain high-fidelity images of cultural heritage documents
