Robert Oppenheimer in seiner Göttinger ZeitDer Physiker und „Vater der Atombombe“ Julius Robert Oppenheimer (1904–1967), dessen Geschichte gerade in den Kinos läuft, wurde 1927 an der Universität Göttingen in nur sechs Monaten zum Doktor promoviert. Seine Promotionsakte ist erhalten und gehört als eine von über 9.500 solcher Akten allein aus Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften zu den Beständen des an der SUB angesiedelten Universitätsarchivs Göttingen.

Waldakten_SchaukastenDas Blog Waldwissen in alten Akten informiert über ein Erschließungs- und Forschungsvorhaben des Universitätsarchivs Göttingen in der SUB und der Fakultät für Forstwissenschaften und Waldökologie. Erschlossen werden die Akten der Fakultät und ihrer Vorgängereinrichtungen zwischen 1868, dem Gründungsjahr als Forstakademie in Hann. Münden, und dem 1972 abgeschlossenen Umzug nach Göttingen. Am Ende des Projekts werden die Akten mit detaillierten Inhaltsangaben im Archivportal Arcinsys online recherchierbar sein.

SUB Göttingen has received funding from the state of Lower Saxony totaling 800,000 euros for its project “Landesweite Lizenzierung und Open-Access-Transformation von E-Books” (Statewide Licensing and Open Access Transformation of E-Books). The project is one of seven funded collaborative projects of the initiative "Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen".
