Accessibility Statement
The Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen), as an institution of the University of Göttingen, is obliged to ensure that its website is accessible in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The following accessibility statement documents the current status of implementation in accordance with Section 9b of the Lower Saxony Act on Equality for People with Disabilities (NBGG), as well as the relevant contact details.
What does this statement cover?
This accessibility statement applies to www.sub.uni-goettingen.de and its subpages. It does not apply to other websites and subdomains that were not created using the SUB Göttingen content management system.
Preparation of this Accessibility Statement
This statement was drawn up on 30 June 2026 as part of the complete relaunch of the website.
Status of compliance with the requirements
The assessment of compliance with the requirements is based on an evaluation carried out by elementare teilchen GmbH on 30 June 2026:
The review found that the website is partially compliant with the requirements set out in the audit report (PDF, in German).
The instances of non-compliance or exceptions are listed below:
Non-accessible content
- Some embedded videos lack subtitles or audio descriptions. Furthermore, they cannot be operated entirely without error using a keyboard. As a result, audiovisual content is only accessible to a limited extent for deaf, hard-of-hearing, blind and visually impaired people.
- The contrast mode does not currently cater for all user preferences, such as high contrast or dark mode.
Reason for non-accessible content
Videos are sourced from third parties. Consequently, subtitles or audio descriptions are not yet consistently available for this content.
Further identified barriers are being addressed gradually as part of ongoing development.
Accessibility support
To ensure the website is as accessible as possible, we currently offer the following support:
- Increase/decrease contrast: This function allows you to increase or decrease the contrast of the content to ensure better readability and visibility. You will find this function in the top right-hand corner of the website under the corresponding icon.
