The Waldweg Library supplies information and literature on teaching methodology, pedagogy, philosophy, psychology, and sports sciences.


Reopening of the Waldweg Library for working in the reading room and new opening hours

At Monday, 15 June 2020 we will reopen the reading room of the Waldweg Library for working and our opening hours will be extended.

To ensure complying with safety and hygiene regulations, especially regarding social distancing, the number of places for study and PC workstations is currently reduced and a registration procedure has been established. 

If you would like to work and study in our libraries again, please:

  • Bring your valid library card (student or staff ID).
  • Wear your mouth nose protecting while moving within our locations – you can take it off at your workplace.
  • Registration for workspace is done in the respective library location.
  • Pay attention to the safety and hygiene regulations as displayed in the libraries.

Building activity Waldweg Library beginning on Monday, 11 March 2019

Construction Project

Renovation Studienseminar Göttingen für das Lehramt Gymnasium, Waldweg 26, Part 4, first floor and installation of a lift for Studienseminar and Waldweg Library basement.

Due to construction work we have to close parts of our library from 11 March 2019 onwards. There will be no access to the book collections of educational science, sports sciences and parts of psychology for some time. You can order books via OPAC and they will be provided in the reading room of the library. We will inform you immediately when we will reopen the collections.

The main entrance of the Waldweg Library will be closed on 26 June 2019, but the side entrance will be opened and will be easily to find. We are sorry to say, that some noise nuisances are to be expected in future weeks.

Our services

We are happy to assist you with any questions you may have about the use of the library and to assist you in finding and borrowing specialist literature.

The majority of the holdings can be taken out on loan for a period of four weeks. The remainder can be taken out on loan for short period of two days or over the weekend (with the exception of periodicals, encyclopedias, and loose-leaf publications).
Literature not available at the Waldweg Library can be ordered by way of inter-library loan or document delivery services.

The Waldweg Library holdings can be researched in its own catalogue. This catalogue is part of the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK).

By Public Transport

From the train station

Take the bus line 41 (Weende-Ost) from the train station to the stop "Humboldtallee". Keep left towards the traffic lights and Nikolausberger Weg. Then turn left to reach the Waldweg. The library is located 500 m down the road on the right.
Or take line 42 (Papenberg) to the stop "Maria-Montessori-Weg".

From the city centre

The bus line 80 (Klausberg) from the city centre will take you to the stop "Waldweg". Then turn left to reach the Waldweg. The library is located 500 m down the road on the right.

The bus timetables can be found on the Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe website (German user interface only).

By car

From the motorway A 7, take the exit "Göttingen Nord" and follow the feeder road to Hannoversche Straße. There you turn right towards "Stadtmitte". Continue on to Kreuzbergring and turn left. Continue on until you reach the third cross roads, and turn right into Waldweg. The library is located on the left.
