Organizational and technical further development of the kopal solution into an integrated service for the long-term preservation of digital data on a custodial basis.
Building on the technical and substantive results of the kopal project, the German National Library and the Göttingen State and University Library—together with other partners—are pursuing the goal of establishing a flexible, highly reusable infrastructure for long-term archiving through the DP4lib project. To ensure that the project results can be reused in other contexts in the future, the development of generic organizational concepts and freely reusable software is a central objective of the project.
