GEO-LEO I

The project aims to establish a distributed virtual specialist library—serving as an integrated web portal—to provide access to information on both printed and computer-based resources in the geosciences and mining sciences, utilizing modern web-based information and communication technologies.
In addition to the relevant special subject collections held by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg University Library and the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen), the integrated meta-search covers the holdings of the associated library networks (SWB and GBV) and the library of the Albert Einstein Science Park in Potsdam (GFZ, PIK, AWI). It also encompasses the "Online Contents – SSG Geosciences" (OLC) journal article database and the "Geo-Guide" specialized internet information directory. A harvester is integrated to search for digital documents across the web. Beyond a "Google-style" quick search and an advanced search, the portal offers distinctive features such as a thematic search based on a subject classification system and a profile service.
