KB Mining

KB Mining - Data supplements: Open Access

The aim of this project is to develop routines to add scholarly data about open access to the bibliometric inhouse databases of the Kompetenznetzwerk Bibliometrie on a regular basis. It thus addresses the increased importance of data about the extent to which publications are freely available for re-use in both in science and higher education research and in science policy. The aim is firstly to regularly supplement the KB databases with open access information for all publications indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus.
The data provision will be designed in such a way that users can apply their own classification on the basis of the data. The open access data sources are Unpaywall, Semantic Scholar and journal title lists, which provide information about the open access business model of a journal. Secondly, because these open access evidence sources are subject to constant change in terms of coverage and structuring, a longitudinal monitoring of these sources will be developed.
