The work is part of the project "Establishing a Network and Service for Research Information at Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen (HdN-FIS)”, specifically within the sub-project on publication data. To make publications from Lower Saxony's universities and their metadata visible, discoverable, and freely reusable for research and monitoring purposes, the following objectives are pursued under the one-year license:
1. Establishment of a central node for curating publication records of Lower Saxony's universities in OpenAlex, within the framework of the Competence Center for Publication Data (under development) within HdN-FIS. This will enable Lower Saxony's universities to access a pool of quality-assured metadata on publications from their institutions.
2. Coordination and documentation of requirements from Lower Saxony's universities regarding the quality assurance of institutional and address information in OpenAlex, as well as the use of OpenAlex for institution-specific analyses.
3. Pilot implementation of a cooperative funding model for the open bibliometric database in Lower Saxony after the end of the twelve-month initial funding period.
