TextGrid

TextGrid is establishing a grid-enabled workbench for the collaborative philological processing, analysis, annotation, editing, and publication of text data across philology, linguistics, literary studies, and related disciplines.
The community grid is supported by the following core functionalities: tools for scholarly editing, the definition of standardized interfaces for publication software, modules for scholarly text data processing, and the management of defined, controlled access to data and tools. This creates an interdisciplinary, international, and networked virtual research platform.
Based on reports regarding the reusability of existing software (WP1), individual modules are adapted or newly developed for the grid application (WP2) and integrated into the integration platform (WP3). Their practical capabilities are demonstrated through use in pilot applications (WP4). The focus of WP5 is TextGrid’s contribution to the creation of a Semantic Grid.
Interfaces designed to remain open to future projects ensure synergies in scholarly text data processing and streamline scholarly work—for instance, through optimized access to primary sources and tools.
This provides significant technological and substantive impetus for text-based research.
