Carrels and book trolleys
The work booths are allocated for a maximum of one semester. The study carrels in the Historical Building and in the Departmental Library of Cultural Studies are allocated preferentially to users of the respective collections on site.
The keys for the lockable book trolleys in the Central Library are issued for four weeks at the service desk there. An extension is possible as long as trolleys are still available for new interested parties.
If a carrel or trolley is not used for a maximum of one week, the library staff can vacate and reassign it without consultation. In the event of illness or vacation, please notify us in good time.
Library staff have the right to enter the study carrels or open the book trolleys at any time for inspection purposes.
The keys for the work booths and book trolleys in the Historical Building must always be handed in when leaving the library. The issue and return of keys must be acknowledged by signature. If the key is lost, the cost of replacing the locking cylinder will be charged. In addition, a processing fee of 10 euros will be charged in accordance with the fee regulations of the state of Lower Saxony.
The books must be arranged in the book trolley with the spine facing forward so that they can be checked at all times. The book trolleys must be returned to the designated areas after use.
Open stacks
Books and journals from the open access areas may only be kept in the work booths and book trolleys for the duration of their immediate use and must then be returned to their locations. This does not apply to books and materials that can be proven to have been borrowed.
Liability
The library is not liable for books, valuables and other materials stored in the work booths and book trolleys. Neither the Göttingen State and University Library nor its employees are personally liable for damage resulting from evacuation in cases of slight negligence.
The provision of work booths and book trolleys is a voluntary service of the library to which there is no entitlement. The agreements can therefore be revoked by the library at any time without further notice.
