About DINI
The development of modern information and communication technologies requires a change in the information infrastructures of higher education institutions and other research institutions. This change is a major topic within higher education in Germany and more than ever requires agreements, cooperation, recommendations, and standards.
The German Initiative for Network Information (DINI) was founded to coordinate and support the management of these changes. DINI is committed to improving the information and communication services in higher education institutions and learned societies, and the necessary information infrastructures regionally and nationally.
Agreements and the distribution of tasks among the infrastructure facilities can significantly extend the range of services. Additionally, the joint development of standards and recommendations is a requirement.
Organization
DINI is an initiative of four organizations:

• AMH (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Medienzentren der deutschen Hochschulen)
  Consortium of German University Media Centers
• dbv (Deutscher Bibliotheksverband Sektion 4: Wissenschaftliche Universalbibliotheken)
  German Library Association, Section 4: Academic Universal Libraries
• ZKI (Zentren für Kommunikation und Informationsverarbeitung in Lehre und Forschung e. V.)
  Association of German University Computing Centers
• Wissenschaftseinrichtungen und -organisationen
  Research institutions and research organizations
